Teacher, I think the book you chose is very good. You can let him express his thoughts more, but he always doesn't take it seriously. Maybe at the beginning, you can go to youtobe to find some games that he can play, such as Plants vs. Zombies, Minecraft, learn English while playing, and some popular science video pictures can be learned, and then learn the content in the book.
